Our stay at the Holiday Inn is on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis and the hotel has full leisure facilities. It is also an excellent base to explore the Cotswolds which as well as boasting beautiful countryside has also provided the settings for some of the best known television shows of recent years.

We travel down on the Friday taking the leisurely route via Bourton on the Water arriving in Swindon late afternoon.

On Saturday we visit the ancient village of Lacock, The Abbey and The Fox Talbot Photography Museum which are managed by the National Trust and were the setting for Pride & Prejudice and The Mayor Of Castorbridge, Cranford and some Harry Potter scenes.

Sunday gives us the opportunity to visit the Chavenage House which really is a treat and is home to Poldark in the recent tv series. We will be shown round by a member of the family that own and live in the house; it really is a unique experience. Hopefully unlike Poldark himself everyone will keep their shirts on! We will enjoy a light lunch - prepared and served by family members before making our way to Tetbury Village and a scenic return to the Hotel.

On the Monday we return home via Gloucester Docks which is well worth a visit and is a fascinating mixture of the old and the new.
