- Sat 26th August 2017
Our cruise was round the Hebridean Islands in 2016 is without doubt the most memorable holiday we have run in the 250 year (approx.) history of Hollinsheads. This year we have set our sights even further afield as we head off to the Orkney and Shetlands Isles. Which are famous for their breathtaking landscapes and relaxed way of life.
Sunday - travel to The Buchanan Arms at Drymen for dinner, bed and breakfast
Monday – make our way through Scotland to The Royal Hotel at Thurso, for another night of dinner, bed and breakfast.
Tuesday – free time in the morning to look around Thurso, boarding the ferry at lunchtime and doing the 90 minute crossing to Stromness, Orkney a soup and sandwich lunch will be provided on board. On arrival in Stromness we will board our coach and have a guided tour (with local guide) around the Island, including Skara Brae, Scapa Flow, the Churchill Barriers with their beached blockships and the inspiring Italian Chapel. Dinner will be provided in a local restaurant. We then make our way back to Kirkwall to board the ferry for a late night sailing to Shetland. The comfortable cabins will be twin bedded side-by-side (not bunks!!)
Wednesday – after breakfast on board we shall board our coach again and meet a local guide for the day’s touring on Shetland – visiting Jarlshof (a pre-historic settlement) in the south and Scalloway Castle and it’s new museum, before returning to the ferry for a carvery-style dinner before setting sail to Aberdeen.
Thursday – after breakfast on board we shall spend some time in Aberdeen before making our way across to Perth – for two nights dinner, bed, breakfast and entertainment at The Salutation Hotel.
Friday – a free day in Perth.
Saturday – return home with suitable stops enroute.
