The Riverside Hotel, a converted 18th Century tannery set on five floors, situated on the banks of the River Kent in Kendal beneath the ruins of the town’s 12th Century castle, only a short walk away from the bustling shops, galleries and museums. There is the Sanctuary Health Club with pool, spa pool, sauna, steamroom and gym. There is a lift to all bedrooms but there are five steps (with a stair lift) to get to the lift!
There can be few finer places in Autumn than the Lake District. Our base is the Riverside Hotel, a 18th century converted tannery that boasts full leisure facilities including a swimming pool.
During our stay we will tour this most beautiful part of the country and will visit the following attractions:
Dove Cottage & Wordsworth Museum where Wordsworth wrote some of his most famous poems. Rydal Mount & Gardens – The family home of Wordsworth and where he published the final (and in my opinion) best version of ‘Daffodils’.
A visit to Ulverston before taking the steam train to Lakeside and then a cruise on Lake Windermere arriving back in Bowness.
A scenic tour of the area including (weather permitting) a trip down the famous Kirkstone pass.
